Since it was Pat’s birthday and I wanted to make his day memorable. I planned to mount a series of surprises for him which I couldn’t have done without the help of those closest to him. Thanks to his older sister Ate Niz for helping me with the video clips from their family, to David one of his closest friends for helping me gather up his friends at his crib and letting me surprise Pat by taking him off guard at a very unexpected moment and also to Ms. Ness from Kulinarya for helping me mount the romantic candlelit dinner to cap off the night.
For the first surprise, I managed to be a little “sneaky” and decided to connive with his older sister in creating a video presentation which contained all our photos from the 1st time we met with some clips in between of his family’s message and also one video we had at Yabu. I posted this on June 20,2014 (Sunday in the afternoon) on my Facebook which I tagged him. He was utterly surprised to see that I made something like this sort since I am not really that techie person unlike him. But what touched me, was that he appreciated the effort I put into creating the video.
We were supposed to meet up and have a birthday salubong. (Wherein on the eve of your birthday we would wait until the clock strikes 12 and greet him a Happy Birthday!) He hasn’t done that before and was excited to spend it with me since we did that on my birthday (June 2,2014) we had some pizza and he even printed out a message from his computer and posted it in the box which contained something like “Happy Birthday Baby, Love Patrick” (Isn’t he the sweetest?)
Since it was my turn to reciprocate, I wanted also to surprise him so I collaborated with a friend to make me this cupcakes with a letter on each piece forming a “Happy Birthday Pat” then I put in some toothpicks and attached his photos on them so it would be original and made with love. I also gathered up his friends of course with the help of David and Anna so we can all greet him a “Happy Birthday” since I know how much his friends mean to him aside from his family.
I was feeling under the weather already maybe due to the fluctuating weather after I got the cupcakes so I drank a little paracetamol and some water and conditioned myself to be ready since I really wanted to pull this off. I also managed to get a big card in the shape of a globe and pasted some scrapbook materials along the edges and also some of our photos from our adventures and I also had a message for him there along with 29 wishes for him on his special day since he was turning 29 in a few hours.
When David messaged me that they were all there, I prepared to go to their place already and we managed to hide my car so Pat wouldn’t assume I was there then we planned how we would surprise him. He was quite disappointed since I told him that I had a migraine and we wouldn’t be able to see each other that night because I needed to rest. So maybe to just relax our friend Pao decided to fetch him from his place so head out to David’s place since he had a problem to consult with Pat. (All part of the plan).
When Pat entered the kitchen all his friends were gathered on the dining table and looked as if nothing special was happening or about to happen. I was hiding in the pantry and came out with the cupcakes and card on my hands after 10-15 minutes of eavesdropping on their conversation. I went to his side and he looked so surprised but really happy. (I haven’t met all his friends yet I only met them on that day since I wanted to surprise him with all his friends included).
We ate in a Korean place afterwards and headed home soon after. Monday morning came about and I headed off to work, he bought me Buko Juice, Lengua and some yogurt. (Thanks Love!) then we ate first before heading out to class. I kept texting the whole time since I was coordinating the fancy dinner we were about to have to cap off the night of his natal day.
He asked “Who are you texting?” then I said “It’s Mom since she wants me to go home early tonight” So we just headed out to Rockwell and I told him Ms. Ness wanted to say “Hi” so we should pass by KK. I texted the staff there to be prepared since we were already at the parking and about to enter the restaurant.
When he entered the waiters in chorus all sang a “Happy Birthday” tune then we were ushered to our seats with candles on our table and we were served our orders since I already pre-ordered everything in the afternoon. Everything was already cooked and prepared by the time we got there. I planned a full course meal from the starter pumpkin soup, to the crab and mango salad, to the roast beef special set (their best seller) to his chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and the words “Happy Birthday Pat” circling the plate with a candle for him to blow and make a wish. These were all coupled with some red wine and iced tea and the waiters were very amicable and attentive to our needs. Thanks for helping me pull everything off Ms. Ness! 🙂 Wait for it next year for something better! 😀 hehe. I love you Babe! 🙂 Hope I made your birthday memorable and note worthy 🙂
