It was exactly this day: August 16 in the evening only 57 years ago when my uncle was born. He wasn’t really fond of parties much more celebrating his own natal day so we were quite surprised when he invited us over to their residence in Tierra Pura to celebrate his birthday with him and his family.
Due to the heavy traffic congestion along C5 heading to their place, we decided to take a U-Turn after passing UP and ventured off into an alternative route to avoid the traffic. We left our house at around 6pm since my Mom still had to purchase a gift for my uncle. I on the other hand had my own personal gifts to my aunt and uncle already gift wrapped and stashed away at the back of our car so that I would not forget it.
I also got my aunt a present since it was also her birthday last August 12, however I wasn’t able to make it to her celebration due to some recent commitments in school I had to attend to. My Aunt (Tita Mayin) the wife of the celebrant made sure everything was already in place before the party started. She personally cooked and prepared all the dishes to be served at the party and even relented to my request of baked lasagna and blueberry cheesecake. (Thanks Tita!)
Someday I hope I can also be as good as her in baking and in whipping up these delectable treats and meals but for now I’m still learning the slopes of baking and meal preparation. I still have a lot to learn and lessons to ingrain in my mind so I’m really very thankful to those who have the patience to teach me and impart their expertise to me. 😀
(Hey, we should never be complacent right?) We should always learn to find something new to explore, to learn and to further develop our skills and widen our horizons. 😀
So anyway, moving back to the party we had a lot of viands to choose from to our heart’s delight. Here are some of the food choices that we had last night.
What a yummy meal right? We also took some family photos along the way and shared some stories about life and about our workplace and how we go about in the daily operations of the very competitive corporate world. I learned a lot from my Aunt’s and my cousin’s own versions about their work, there surely is wisdom from their words and experiences.
We surely had a grand time! 🙂 Thanks again for the invite Tito! 😀
