Zhu Chinese Kitchen at the Fort

I was always intrigued by what this restaurant had to offer since we usually pass by it whenever we have some catch up sessions with my friends along the Fort. However, I have never dined in there before since I usually see empty chairs and not a lot of traffic coming in to their store. So yesterday since it was a holiday. (Thanks Ninoy!) and since most establishments were closed or open only for a limited time only we decided to give this Chinese joint a try.

What piqued my attention in the first place was their spacious interior and also their very girly seats which were colored bright pink, pastel green and amber yellow. More on the fuchsia side of pink to be exact. Moving on since there weren’t a lot of guests dining in yesterday they immediately ushered us to our seats and jot down our orders as we perused their Menu.

Of course for my appetizer I would usually go with my favorite Century Egg with Jellyfish.

At first we ordered this dish for our meal starter however I noticed that there were only 4 pieces of my favorite Century Egg which came along with the Jellyfish so we concurred to add another batch of Century Eggs. Yey for me!

We then went with their dumplings. I had their Hakaw ( Also one of my favorites from HapChan) and Pat had their Sharks fin dumplings. He said that the Sharks fin dumplings were just so-so and didn’t really make an impression on his palate. Meanwhile the Hakaw were good according to him since you can really taste the shrimp and also it just melted in your mouth after you take it in which gave it a feel good aftertaste.

Then for the Main Course we choose their Lemon Chicken which was deep fried and braised with pure lemon sauce. It was really good! The lemon sauce added a tangy flavor to the dish was really something worth noting.

I also tried out their Tea which was presented to me in a can. (More like a coke can) the only difference is that it’s tea and it tastes more of like gulaman, :)The drink was good for just one person and the flavor tasted more of like sweetened/ flavored water. Overall it was another food adventure and a good choice for Chinese cuisine.
