With a lot of events lining up my calendar for the past weeks or so I wasn’t able to attend to my blogging duties last week and because of that I will try to make up for it during my off days from work/ school. Yey! Thank you Lord for these days off wherein I can sit back, relax, pamper myself, watch some of my movies on my laptop and attend to various events while catching up on my blogging duties and readings.
I try to fill my calendar with as much activities as possible because as the saying goes “YOLO” or “You only live Once” and you should make the most of your youth trying to explore various cuisines, watching some feel good movies.
Anyway, moving on since P made it to the Dean’s list in Ateneo this Semester (Whohoo! Congrats! 🙂 Awesome job) and also since he recently came back from Singapore we headed out to find a good place to dine. We were supposed to go to Heat in Edsa Shangrila (The last time I ate here was during my graduation) it’s been quite a while already. However after scourging around the different plates and after knowing the price I did not pursue the idea of dining here that night and suggested a more budget friendly alternative instead. (It’s actually 2,500 per head so if you’re planning a romantic date night out with your lady love come in prepared with your cash).
Madison’s Bistro Moderne is very well located at the ground floor of the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City. I actually thought this was part of the Shangrila Hotel however upon inquiring this was actually a separate joint.
Their interiors and the ambiance was very posh, classy and very fine dining in nature. Their high ceiling walls and white curtained walls with some sweet, soft and melodious music resonated throughout the entire venue while we were eating dinner.
Their waiters were very friendly and amicable too, they were very attentive to our needs and we were well attended to I must say. They were even giving out their 2 cents worth of advice and recommendations as to their crowd favorites and well loved dishes.
For starters we were served with a bread platter which came along with two dips one with cream cheese which I especially loved and the other one with some pesto dip which P loved and fancied. He loved the bread sticks and I loved their sour dough bread.
We also had their Mixed Vegetable salad which served my taste well.
I’m not really a fan of greens and salmon but after tasting this dish. It melted all my apprehensions along the way. This dish gave justice to all the other apprehensions about salads and greens. Their salmon which was very fresh seems to melt in my mouth, also the almonds gave a complimentary taste to this salad mix, their lettuce leaves also were prepared fresh and tastes as if it was just picked up and washed. Really good! Also the corn and the vignette dressing were the perfect mix for this dish. Definitely a good starter!
We then had one of my favorite appetizers! 😀 Yes! You guessed it right! 🙂 The creamy spinach which did not disappoint! 😀 It came in with loads of cream and flavor which definitely excited my gustatory senses! 🙂 I just loved the creaminess this dish had to offer to my palette. Due to that I even ordered a take out of this dish.
We were then served our Main Dishes after a 10-15 minute waiting time. Tadadada! 😀 Here goes:
This was generously seasoned and garnished with a lot of sauce and seemingly bored an uncanny resemblance to one of our most loved Filipino dishes “The Caldereta”. This dish came in a generous serving good for sharing since it also costs around 750 bucks.
I wasn’t really in the mood to have some rice and opted for some mashed potatoes instead since our friend Brian who coincidentally was the owner of the Brand Dona Maria Jasponica supplied me with some 5 packets of rice for my tasting. Thanks Brian! ;D This dish was better since I got to savor the beefy taste of the dish which was cooked to a well done preparation and was adorned with some crisp onion rings which made the dish come out with a little more oomph and flavor on my taste buds.
I also had their signature orange juice shake with some mango however the taste of the orange dominated over the drink and blew me away since it gave off that tangy taste just right for me.
I came out so full after this degustatory meal. We were definitely happy with the service and also the salad and their spinach 😀 Until next tine! 😀
