Me and Kat wanted to grab lunch but since we kind of wanted something new aside from our usual go to staples like the canteen, JT’s, Skinny Mike’s, Mcdo, Jollibee, SNR and some fast food chains surrounding the vicinity of our office we consented on heading off to Serendra to just sit back and enjoy our meal at Conti’s the Fort. It has been a while since we last dined in there.
I used to recall those days wherein Me, Dreena (Kat) and Twinkle (Our half Indian friend who recently tied the knot to her Pastor husband) used to stroll around the lush green lawns of the Fort, eating to our heart’s content and just taking our sweet time walking by the sidelines and enjoying each others company as we talk about anything and everything under the sun. How time definitely flies! 😀 I still couldn’t wrap my head around the idea that it has been over a year since we last got together.
To conserve time we decided on using this new app called “Uber” . Uber, a new app-based chauffeur service offers a new way of looking at commuting since you get to use a well kept and convenient private car at your beck and call. It definitely puts convenience at your doorstep since all you need to have is your handy bff (credit card) as you download the application from your handy smartphone whether it’s android or your Iphone.
You just enter your credit card details, it gets scanned and then they send you with a code and VOILA! 🙂 Welcome to Uber! 😀 I first got hold of the idea if this ride from a friend who got me a ride home via this application. A Camry picked me up from my location and then confirmed with me my destination and identity. Afterwards, he (the driver) then proceeded to open the doors for me and then ushered me into the well maintained vehicle. The car was well kept, freshly car washed and the mugs and rims were well maintained, the carpets were also cleaned and the car gave off that fresh scent which bore a resemblance to strawberries.
The driver was very courteous and attentive to my needs like if I was feeling a bit cold, he would somehow turn down the temperature of the Aircon and constantly asking if I was okay. Also the photo, name and location of the driver can be well known to you since you see it on your screens via the app if he was already there at your pick up point and then when you finish your journey your receipt will be emailed to you and your bill will automatically be deducted from your credit card. Cashless transaction right? 😀 Better than haggling your way through the hordes and flocks of people trying in vain to hail a cab and get a ride during the rush hours. This is definitely a go to app when you’re caught up in the rush hours and cannot find a cab, or you have to rush to a meeting or get to work but want utmost convenience and less of a hassle that commuting can pose upon you.
Convenience comes with a price since it’s a tad more expensive than your regular cab fares since you can even have “Black” meaning “Top of the Line” cars fetching you at your designated pick up point. Some of these include the Mercedes Benz, The Montero Sport, The Camry, The Jaguar, The Mini Cooper and the likes. Cool right? 😀 Plus we also get to have free rides during our first ride and also when you share your code! 😀 Such an awesome find! 🙂
Going back, the food was quite okay. I find Conti’s a bit too pricey for the serving since servings are usually of little quantities. Maybe that’s why they named it Conti’s 🙂 Hahah!! 😀 Anyway, I had their Carbonara Seafood Pasta which was cream based and garnished with some cheddar cheese, olives and mixed with some sea food like mussels. While Kat had their signature breakfast Tocino. I also had a slice of my favorite Bananalicious pie which I savored with utmost delight! 😀
I loved their crust and the sweet mix of the caramel, to the banana slices and the cold cream in between the layers. 😀 Definitely catered to my sweet tooth! 🙂
