Movie Review: Gone Girl

I love poring over new finds especially when it comes to books/ movies which offer a fresh twist to the plot of the story. Recently a lot of good new movies are up for viewing and it actually affects your emotions on a more deeper level than you thought. It makes you think beyond the movie itself relating yourself to the characters and to the plot twists and turns of the movie.

To be honest, I haven’t read a single page of this best selling novel not because I didn’t have the luxury of time but also because I just found out about this awesome find recently. 😦 Anyway, since it has already hit the cinemas yesterday we decided to check this out and see for ourselves what the fuss was all about and if ever it will give justice to the book.

To get a general idea of what I was talking about here’s the trailer of the movie:

I was quite baffled and perplexed as the scenes little by little unfolded into the deep mystery that it was since I did not have any idea of what to expect from this movie. The movie was quite long and sometimes dragging since it took almost 2 hours and a half until it finished. The plot was kind of twisted and even sickening to a fault in some scenes.

What turned out to start off as a blissful matrimony and marriage between the two consenting parties eventually unfolded to be a marital relationship mired by deep seated issues and unresolved, irreconcilable differences. It wasn’t as easy as you thought it was right? 🙂

Amy, the leading lady of the film seems to be the “It Girl” since she possesses all those innate characteristics that will make any guy fall head over heels in love with her. She was downright beautiful with the porcelain like skin and angelic features, her intelligence and her proclivity towards being a voracious reader also made guys swoon all over her. She was an achiever of all sorts and in various facets of her life too.

Meanwhile, Ben Affleck (Nick) was also a writer and who was more laid back and casual than his uptight wife seems to have been framed and implicated for the murder of Amy once she goes missing during the day of their 5th year anniversary. Of course he was the primal suspect due to a multitude of clues which all pointed towards him being caught red handed.

This was carefully planted and well thought of since Amy was trying to exact revenge for his alleged affair and indiscretions with one of his students in his class. I would not be a spoiler here and give a blow by blow account of how it all happened. The movie was well thought of, the screen play was really good and the actors were really effective in portraying their roles. 😀

This is definitely a must watch thriller you shouldn’t miss out on! 😀
