Another week begins again and it’s December once more! 🙂 One of my favorite months because of all the festivities and events in line! 🙂 Last week I had handful of events which definitely were worth noting like the Carmudi website relaunching, healthy eating at this posh place in Serendra called “Wholesome Table”, eating out at a new joint named “Mateo’s Cafe and Restaurant” while learning the ropes of decorating a ginger bread house while artistically applying the frosting and resisting the urge to munch on the yummy sweets like the m&m’s and flower shaped mallows! 🙂 I also learned how to speak a few lines of the Spanish language while learning how to do simple crochet. More domestic skills to learn whew! 🙂 .
Also had fun attending a wellness and nutrition talk while the speakers doled out running tips and wellness rules for a healthier lifestyle. More new insights that I gained about healthy living. Anyway, enough ramblings. Let me get things into perspective and tell you about my recent adventure as a guest speaker in Miriam! 🙂
One milestone that I accomplished and ticked off my bucket list was being invited to be a guest speaker in a campus or university! 🙂 What was better was that it was my very own Alma Matter! Miriam College 🙂 Yey !:) The feeling was surreal! 🙂 I couldn’t believe it at first. So let’s get a head start already okay?
I was privileged to be slated as one of the guest speakers in my Alma Matter Miriam College to dole out writing tips and blogging advices to 2 classes of 6th graders since they were already in the process of constructing their very own literary pieces.
I told them to first find their passion since in everything that you do you must work with your heart. You have to love what you’re doing and most of all have a goal in mind. When I first started writing out in this blog I never expected anything in return. I just loved writing and sharing my adventures and my food trips since obviously I love eating and embarking on various adventures. Little did I know that I was to meet various people along the way and from all walks of life too whom I would learn a lot from and would accompany me to various events and lifestyle functions that I would not have experienced otherwise. 🙂
I just poured my heart into writing since aside from it being fun it also served as my stress reliever and my creative outlet whenever I get giddy and excited like a kid with a new toy or a sweet cotton candy. 🙂 I just like writing and meeting new people I guess. 🙂 So that’s where it all started. 🙂
One resto- bar invited me to taste test their new menu and VOILA everything followed suit. 🙂 It was as if the universe conspires to make everything you wanted come true. A couple of food tasting events ensued and I was one of the few who got a taste of their new menu before the public did. 🙂
So I guess you just have to follow your heart and do what you love doing and then keep on updating yourself by reading and doing some research also about the place or the event that you are supposed to attend to give you a brief background on what you’re getting yourself into.
I tasked them to write about their favorite joint and their favorite food and describe it aptly including all the details as to why they loved the dish so much. The students were very participative and were really keen on making their writings perfect.
The first five kids who came up the stage to share their posts would win some prizes from me and the grand prize winner will win a tumbler from me. They were very energetic and elated as they voiced out their favorite dishes and restaurants. They were really fluent and eloquent as well in the English language credit goes to their English teachers right there. 🙂 Good Job! 🙂
I judged the winner based on the loudest cheer from the crowd. Kat, one of the most participative students won the grand prize. Everyone went home with high spirits and smiles on their faces. 🙂
Thanks again for this opportunity 🙂
