A Look back on my 2014

With every passing year new memories, milestones and life experiences that will forever be etched into our memories should be recounted before moving on to another eventful year ahead of you. These memories make us who we are right now since they mold, shape and change us in ways which are not conceivable to some.

Since I just recently got started on blogging let me recount some if the highlights of the past few years dating back to a few years down the road.

I have always set goals for myself ever since I was a kid and one of those unrealized dreams was starting a blog or a journal. When I was around 7 years of age or so I used to write/ draft articles and poems and then when one of my articles got published in the Inquirer newspaper I was beyond words. My grandmother even had that article kept in her keepsakes for me to later on recount and remember.

Then fast forward to High School and the Grades where in dabbled myself in various endeavors trying to locate my niche and my passion in life. Whether it be the glee club belting out various tunes from the highs soprano notes to the low alto tunes to camping and joining the girl scout’s club to trying out for the mini theater club and enhancing my acting skills if there was even any. :))

We were also exposed to swimming as we trained in a summer camp of MILO once and we even competed in one of the Taekwondo competitions in Ateneo where I garnered a bronze medal by default. πŸ˜€

From that day forward I knew that I loved speaking in front of people, I loved various artistic pursuits and dabbling into various activities. Come high school I joined the contingent debate team of Miriam College and immersed myself into the deep intellectual conversations of my peers learning some high falutin and verbose words in the process.

Topics would range from world issues like euthanasia, abortion and various world events and local news bombarding our screens and television screens at night. Most of my club mates ended up being writers, journalists, bloggers, lawyers and doctors. Guess our innate love for words and learning never really left us.

Again fast track to 2010 when I took the boards along with 84,000 examinees however only a fraction to as low as 10% passed the 2 day exams. 😦 I again ventured into various pursuits trying to find my niche be it from being a Marketing and Sales Officer to being an Operating Room Nurse specializing in Ophthalmology and Dermatology to being a Patient Care Officer and handling the various VIP Clients of one of the most prestigious and top notch hospitals in our country.

Of course you have to maintain a steady work- life balance in the process so I ventured also into various sidelines and businesses to finance my goal of earning a Master’s Degree also in one of the top Universities of our country.

Looking back at all of these life altering experiences I am thankful to God above all else, to my family and to the people who provided me with wisdom and counsel especially during those arduous moments when I didn’t know what direction to take or if I should pursue this path I have chosen.

Now as 2014 comes to a close, I have a lot to be thankful for specially to P and my family who had been supportive and inspirational throughout all my undertakings. I was given a lot of opportunities along the way and our blog was even recognized as evidenced by me being invited to be a guest speaker in none less than my Alma Matter Miriam College as I doled out writing tips and advices and being invited to a handful of events which only a few were granted access to. πŸ™‚

Countless travels and adventures also marked this memorable year such as diving off the coasts of Palawan and Caramoan and discovering the aquatic wonders they had to offer us. It was like being transported to another realm. I was able to travel and explore various cities already by saving up and met friends along the way from the wild white water rafting in Davao, to the deep ravines, high mountains and icy cold waterfalls of Sagada to the various pristine beaches of Palawan. πŸ˜€ All of these will forever be treasured πŸ™‚ Looking forward to a new and exciting adventure ahead this coming 2015:)

Happy Holidays :)
