We all know that life can get really busy at times, especially for us moms wherein we have to juggle our full-time jobs, running our business, taking care of our kids on a day to day plus managing the household and ensuring that all the supplies are well- stocked and the needs of your kids are well attended to.
However, despite our busy schedules we should never forget to take care of our health and skin as well since having great skin is one of the biggest assets we can have as well as having a nice smile without cavities or dental caries.
That’s why I make it a point to always stock up on our essential vitamins at home, ensure that I dab on sunblock and moisturizer even when I am just working from the confines of my home and seated on my working desk.
Add to the fact that I also try to check every now and then what’s new on the market when it comes to skincare procedures which can enhance my skin appearance to help me achieve that glowing, smooth and wrinkle free complexion and apperance.
We have different skin types ranging from dry, oily or sensitve. For those with oily skin, it feels as if we are stuck with that skin type without any resolution right?
Good thing that it seems that our prayers have finally been answered as this new breakthrough treatment called Refresh Microtherapy now exists, and this treatment claims to be able to tighten pores and significantly reduce oiliness, keeping all that grease and acne at bay.
If you’re ready to have poreless, refined, and radiantly glowy skin of your dreams, keep reading.
What is Refresh Microtherapy?
Refresh Microtherapy is an in-clinic treatment that involves the use of a 24-karat gold microneedling device to deliver a specially mixed cocktail deep into the skin. The cocktail is a special mix of a growth factor, neurotoxins, and non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Let’s get into each component to understand how they help.
Growth factors are skin rejuvenating ingredients that help stimulate tissue regeneration and renewal. Growth factors can actually be found in our own platelet-rich plasma or more commonly known as PRP. For the Refresh Microtherapy treatment, a sample of blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge in order to extract the PRP, which is then mixed into the cocktail.
Colloquially known as Botox, neurotoxins are commonly injected into patients to preserve structure, smooth wrinkles, and lift the skin. It functions through temporary muscle paralysis, but can also inhibit endocrine activity, a.k.a. overproduction of sweat or sebum. You’ll commonly hear of Botox being used to help inhibit excessive sweating on the hands, face, and armpits. In the case of Refresh Microtherapy, neurotoxins are added into the cocktail to decrease sebum production—the decrease in sebum leads to the reduction of acne and the visible shinkage of pores.
Non-Cross Linked Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a common hydrating skincare ingredient. When it is cross-linked, it usually retains volume and stays in place when injected, which is why it’s a common ingredient for dermal fillers. Non-cross linked hyaluronic acid, however, flows around the dermis, plumping the skin and softening lines. The delivery of non-cross linked hyaluronic acid into the skin gives the skin a healthy, radiant glow.
The special cocktail that contains all three ingredients regulates sweat and sebum production, resulting in an overall decrease in sebum and acne, and visible pore tightening. It also visibly improves the skin’s sheen and gives it a radiant glow, minus all the grease. It also helps regulate melanin for a more even skin tone, and restores and regenerates collagen for added plumpness.

How was the experience?
Fortunately, I was able to try out this 45 min treatment for myself at their Molito, Alabang branch just a few days ago while Luminisce was commemorating their 10th year in the beauty service business. Media friends were treated to a tour of their aesthetic clinic while snacking on various healthy treats and viands that the team prepared for the guests.
It would first start out by having a quick 15 min consult with their doctor on duty to assess your skincare concerns/ needs then they would then recommend the procedure for you to help you manage and improve your concerns.
In my case, I just wanted to achieve that dewy, clearer looking skin that some of my favorite Korean idols are sporting and I know that having a good skincare routine isn’t enough so they recommended their new treatment to me, the Refresh Therapy.
I was ushered into a room and tasked to don on their gown, then they started with a quick cleaning of my face, then slathered on the topical anesthesia on my face since the procedure involved an applicator containing various needles which would then be used to deliver the serum deep into my pores.
While I was waiting for the anesthestia to take effect which was around 20 mins, I was given a lovely 15 min foot massage as well by one of their in-house therapists, it was a feel good add- on to the whole customer experience.
Their resident doctor would be the one doing the procedure which would only take around 15-20 mins, you just have to lie down comfortably on the treatment bed while she injects the serum to your pores using thier microneedle applicator.
After the procedure was done, my face was red all over but there wasn’t really any pain at all. Good job anesthesia! 🙂 The redness would eventually fade away after just a few hours and then you can wash your face after 6-8 hours already post procedure.
The following day, my skin looked noticeableably more dewy and moisturized since my skin type falls on the dry side of the spectrum. You should do this treatment every 2-3 weeks to reap the results continuously and achieve that flawless glass looking skin sported by your favorite celebs or idols.
