Health Hacks to avoid FOMO

Living a healthier lifestyle is not only about eating the proper kinds of food; it is also about exerting the right amount of physical activity per day.  Recent studies have shown that adults need at least thirty minutes of exercise daily, to maintain their healthy and active outlook.

To be honest, I need help with regards to this area since I sometimes let my emotions get the best of me especially with new cuisines and dishes! 🙂 I get all giddy and hyper upon just smelling the delicious, newly cooked and delectable scent from the dishes percolating through my nostrils so I tend to consume more than what I can burn. 😦 Gotta strike a balance between the food that I intake and those calories that I burn I guess since I’m not getting any younger and I can feel that my metabolism isn’t as fast as it used to be.

Me with my Mom trying to balance our lifestyle by joining fun runs once in a while 🙂 We even participated in their Zumba session soon after 🙂 It’s a great day to burn all those calories away 🙂

October 2016: Of Sunrise and Sunsets

They say the only constant thing in life is change right? Or was it death and taxes? haha. Now I don’t want to sound morbid here or too morose since December is just around the corner ushering in a season of festivities and special occasions so I’ll just keep everything light.

However, maybe I just don’t feel the Christmas spirit this time around. Not to be a grinch or dampen anyone’s spirit for that matter but I don’t know why I seem to be down as of late. I guess everything happens for a reason and maybe it takes a lot of maturity to be a grown up sometimes. So I guess I would have to do away with my happy disposition or maybe lessen all those things which seem to weigh me down and cause me undue distress. Some things got to give and when you feel that unhappiness constantly lingering in your thoughts. I guess it’s the time wherein you have to check with yourself and re-assess if you’re still on the right track and if this is still what you really want.

Sunsets like these still remind me that there can still be something good in endings.

My Pampering Experience at the Victor Ortega Salon in QC

I believe that as women our crowning glory is of course our hair. Sometimes just the right color and the right cut would do wonders on how you look. It can accentuate your features and make you look like you just came out from a magazine cover or it can also make you look like a rag doll with unkempt shaggy hair if not done right.

However with our busy schedules who has the time to go to salons nowadays right? Especially when you think that everything has been going on haywire as of late. But of course, we could not discount the fact that truly getting the right treatment for our manes can do wonders for us. Even as a kid I have been quite experimental with my hair trying out various colors like red, ash blonde, going pitch black and mahogany brown trying to find the color which would suit me the best and accentuate my features all the more. Of course, the thought of coloring my hair blue, pink or green also crossed my mind before but to not freak my Mother or my Grandmother out I opted to just stay with the basics. 🙂

As time progressed eventually, my strands became dry, brittle and all the more damaged due to the constant treatments. So I had to resort to having these monthly hair spa and hot oil sessions from my salon to mend my brittle hair strands and bring it back to life hoping that somehow it would do my hair wonders. I have long searched for a hair treatment which would rejuvenate my strands and bring back its natural shine lost by the constant treatments, coloring and ironing that my hair suffers on a regular basis. I have also heard of the treatment called “Brazilian Blowout” from a friend before but decided not to pursue it due to the hefty price tag that came along with it.

So when my blogger friend Michelle from Rockstarmomma messaged me about this new concept salon along the confines of Congressional Avenue who specializes on treatments like these I just knew in my heart that I could not pass up this chance. So after having lunch with my family, I drove to check out this newly opened joint 🙂

The Victor Ortega Salon has long been in business for the past couple of years but for food entrepreneurs Ms. Michelle and her husband this is their first salon franchise.
Congratulatory flower arrangements were poised near the doorway during that day

Life Lately.. :)

It’s been more than a week since I last updated my blog once again and I know that it’s a pathetic and lame excuse to use the term”Life Got in the Way” once again but hey, I guess it holds true for me for the time being with so many things running across my mind right now and trying to device a way on how to balance everything out. I think I have been doing such a bad job lately neglecting some things which apparently should be part of my pressing priorities and just attending to them a tad bit too late which leads me to cram and procrastinate most of the time. Such a bad habit indeed! But, I’m trying to change that already. It’s just that maybe sometimes there are days wherein you don’t feel motivated or compelled to do anything significant. Nothing wrong about that but then again, there are priorities too that needs attending.

August 2016 Monthly Diary Updates :)

It has been a good old 3 day vacation! 🙂 Thank you Lord for the holidays which gets us ample time to relax and finally catch up on reruns of our favorite series in my case it’s catching up with my my missed episodes from Suits 🙂 Maybe I should think about pursuing law in the future? Haha. Just a random thought 🙂

The witty banter which ensues between the characters really know how to keep their audience glued to the screens anticipating every next episode to come. I couldn’t wait until the 8th Episode airs on the 31st.

Some of our lovely volunteers from the Accounting Department as well as Jerome from our Customer Service were all smiles that fateful day as we tried to paint the railings of the school.

Choose a Guy with the Saktong Pogi Looks! :)

They say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder right? So why do girls chase after those good looking modelesque guys with those taut 6 pack washboard abs 🙂 Why not go for those guys who have a great sense of humor? An Intelligent Mind with whom you can have intellectual discourses with and someone with that CONFIDENCE X Factor? 🙂

Before you even widen your eyes and ask yourself if you read it right, let’s clear one thing: “sakto” shouldn’t be taken as synonymous to “average.” Sure, average guys are still capable of attracting certain girls, but the truth is most women aren’t satisfied with the basics. Men being merely pogi isn’t that exciting for them anymore either. “We want more!” 🙂 Comes the clamor of more and more women of this generation.

Happy Birthday to Me! :)

It has so far been a whirlwind of events again for me the past few weeks since school started once again and work had been nothing short of amazing. They say that when you choose a job you should also choose a boss you can be comfortable working with, comfortable discussing your career plans and probably the things you need to further hone and improve your skills.

I was glad that for the past year or so since I’m already turning a year older in our company and another year older also in my age since June 3 marks my natal day my boss had been supportive since Day 1 teaching me things beyond my comfort zone and being supportive in my studies.

Thank you for this rich, chocolate caramel filled cake and also for the banner which was plastered on our walls on the eve of my birthday 🙂 Made me feel a lot more special 🙂

Of Heartbreak and Healing :)

Guess many have been wondering for quite some time now why I changed my blog name. It used to be Teampatlou before as a mixture of me and my boyfriend Pat’s names way back when we were together, this entry has been lingering on my mind for quite some time now and I honestly don’t know if it’s a good idea to publish this post but after giving it some thought I decided to publish this post because I want to pour my heart out on my sleeve and share with you some lingering thoughts at the back of my mind 🙂

Me and P before attending one of his friends wedding 🙂

Great things start with small milestones

Yesterday I was invited over to the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Regionals at the Don Bosco Makati Technical Institute. I wasn’t really keen on what to expect on that date since I wasn’t really a sports blogger or writer for that matter and I just cover events which pique my interest which are usually geared towards food, fashion or lifestyle for that matter. However since it was a Sunday and my schedule wasn’t as packed as before I decided to visit and check this event out.

These teenage boys all went head to head as they showed off their skills to the various coaches from different universities

To get a bird’s eye view of what I’m talking about check out my previous post here.

Who am I to you?

Earlier this year, I published my posts regarding the book by Kath Derla titled “Before I Do” which tackles on the hurdles and looming thoughts going on a young girl’s mind before she finally walks down the aisle with the love of her life in tow.

For those who want a refresher on it, here are are links to my previous two posts 🙂 Before I Do Book ReviewMy Thoughts on the Book 🙂
